From the material used, according to the characteristics of each component, the main material characteristics required for relatively moving components are wear resistance and high material strength, which is conducive to withstanding long-term loads; relatively static components only need to play a connection transition effect, and generally use materials with certain strength. In view of such characteristics, the general planetary gear, sun gear, planetary gear pins and other parts using low carbon steel + normalizing + carburizing quenching process, ring gear is using medium carbon steel + quenching + nitriding process, and planet carrier, connecting plate and other parts are generally used ductile iron and so on.

In the lubrication maintenance, planetary reducer is generally lubricated with lubricating oil. For planetary gear units mounted vertically, additional lubrication measures may also be used since the lubricating oil may not ensure reliable lubrication of the uppermost bearings and other components. Generally, before running, inject the right amount of lubricating oil into the planetary reducer, the viscosity of the lubricating oil needs to meet the requirements of the manufacturer, the brand can be selected according to the manufacturer's recommendation, or according to experience, the planetary reducer is usually equipped with oil holes and drain holes, so generally in order to order planetary reducer must specify the installation position.
